Why the will to a Playoff?

I love this season! NCAA Football is great because every game is vital & there is room to argue about who is the best team! With over 100 Division IA teams and budgetary inequity there can never be the definitive champion like in pro sports. And why should there be?

CAL vs Oregon should be good. Oregon did not clearly beat OU and barely escaped Fresno St. Neither OU or Fr.ST are top 20 teams.
CAL’s only lost was the first game of the year, with a QB that had never completed a NCAA game, in arguably the toughest place to play on the road.
USC can’t score enough to beat Oregon or CAL.
